Interesting story in today's Australian Weekend Professional by American author/writer/commentator Carol Hymowitz which confirms what we probably all know but wish wasn't true.
Looking your age in the workplace can contribute to whether you get a job or not, if you get a promotion and even how you're treated around the water cooler.
I wish it weren't true but it would be silly and unproductive not to accept that this is not the way of the world.
I also think it is not confined to just older workers. How you look, dress and behave - your professional image - is always of importance in the workplace.
Carol Hymowitz has also written other very interesting pieces on ageism and workplace culture. She's worth a Google and a read.
